Moving Day

After a lot of thinking, Heath and I decided that it would be completely worth it to hire some guys to move all of our things from storage to the house. Yes, it would cost a bit of money (more than a bit), but it could be done on a day while Heath was at work, and we could use the weekend to put things away and organize.

So I found some guys (BG firefighters have a business - they are wonderful), and on Friday, June 10th, all of our things were moved across town to our new house. My Granny came to BG with me to help with the boys, and we had some other favorite people join us for lunch.

Last minute vacuuming - it took the guys over two hours to load everything in the truck from our storage units. We waited and waited ...

Can you find the sweet little guy in this mess?

Yes, all of our things (minus stuff that was at mom and dad's) fit into one truck. It was a tight squeeze though!

AR had fun playing with these styrofoam pieces while...

Emaline took it easy. (The BEST baby, EVER!)

There were two monkeys sighted during the process, too. :)

Cash was the most excited about seeing his couches. He loves jumping on them because you can take the cushions off. He had really missed them!

At the end of the day, I was completely overwhelmed by all the boxes that needed to be put away. Thankfully Granny and I had gotten a head start on the kitchen while they were carrying things in and the boys were napping (yes, they took naps in the closet). By the end of the weekend though, things were starting to take shape.

A Day with Thomas

Did you guess it? This is what Cash, Baylen, Grandad and Heath saw steam up and come to a stop.
It's Thomas the Tank Engine!

For Cash's birthday, and sort of a last hoorah with the entire family before we moved back to BG, we decided to go to New Haven, KY to spend a day with Thomas. Cash absolutely loves Thomas and all of Thomas' friends, so he was particularly excited about our fun day. Baylen was just happy to be with all his favorite people.

Our attempt at a picture with Grandad and the boys in front of the sign

Heath and Baylen in front of the old, old steam engine that they toured.

This picture says a lot. Dad and Heath were listening while Cash and B were trying to push buttons and pull cords.

There were lots of train tables that the boys played with. There's nothing like playing with other people's trains!

He was completely in a world of his own.

Yes, he has a Thomas shirt. Two or three, actually.

It was the perfect weather, too. Cloudy and not too hot. It did sprinkle, but there were tents over the train tables. Perfect!

B enjoyed the trains, too.

Did O have fun? Looks like it - here's Cash and O talking it all over.

Me and my two favorite train engineers!

Yay for Thomas!

Heath and his boys just before boarding Thomas!

Grammy and Grandad with the grandboys! Ready to steam away!

They also had the Bubble Truck there -- with lots of bubbles!

B didn't really make bubbles, but instead he covered himself in the slimey bubble mixture.

Grandad was quite the bubble expert.

Yes, this is the bubble truck. Interesting, right?

What a fun day!

Before and After

For the first two weeks of living in our new house, it rained almost every day. This wasn't a bad thing at all for the farmers around our house. They needed it, I'm sure. As for the us, we could have done without it. (Enter here my Granny scolding me for complaining about the rain.) You see, we don't have grass in our yard. We have clay soil, which turns into a nasty muddy mess with a lot of rain. If the boys wanted to go outside to play, it would conclude with a hose down, a wash in the mud sink in the laundry room or a complete bath. Baylen is especially bad about this. When he plays in mud, he loves getting it on his hands, but when he's done with mud being on his hands, he wants them clean. He rubs his hands on shirt or puts them in his mouth (nice, right?). Take a look - and this is on a good day.

Cleaning Day

On Wednesday, June 8th, my two little guys came to our new house with me, along with three of my favorite ladies. My mom, aunt and Granny (Grammy, Kaffy and Nanny) came to Moats Lane to help clean parts of the house to get ready for the movers. We (and by we, I mean mostly them because I was busy chasing boys and keeping them out of the way) dusted walls and baseboards, vacuumed and dusted cabinets and shelves, vacuumed the new carpets and cleaned the bathrooms. Although we only got finished with the downstairs, they were a HUGE help. We also enjoyed a fast-food picnic in the dining room - officially the first meal in the new house.

Baylen and Cash loved crawling in and out of the shelves in the closet. In this picture they are sitting where the drawers were going.

I was thankful for our traveling DVD player and old Mickey cartoons on DVD. Too bad when Kaffy and Nanny got there, they were more exciting than watching Mickey.

Here they are again playing in the pantry. Ignore that extremely dirty foot you see.

Mommy, look!

What do these four guys see that's so amazing?

This and that, and yes, I am going to cheat

Hello out there. Where have you been? Haha. I guess the better questions is, Where have I been, right?

Well, since I last posted, which just happens to be a month ago (ahh!) we have finished the house, moved in, celebrated Cash's third birthday, and harvested and eaten our first squash, cucumber and peppers from the garden.

So why haven't I posted about any of these wonderful things? Easy. I was super busy getting through the first two (finishing and packing, and then unpacking) and we don't have the Internet yet at our new house.

I promise I'll go back and post some pictures of it all happening. I just downloaded over 200 - so there are plenty to add to the blog. It might just be awhile. And yes, when I do post, I think I'm going to cheat and backdate some of the posts. :)

Here's a few pictures to give you a taste of our past month.

Playing in the new pantry before it was completely finished. How fun!

Topsoil delivered! Yay for Cash!

Watching Thomas on our little DVD player before bed (before we had our TV hooked up).

Father's Day

Walking in the (mud) backyard. Too cute!

What happens when we play outside. It's rained almost everyday since we moved in.

Happy birthday, Cash!
