Nana, heaven and Kevin

The other night while we were driving back from our favorite Glasgow Mexican restaurant, the Randy Travis song "Angels" came on the radio. This is the song that Heath danced to with his mother at our wedding. He was singing it as we drove home, and Cash asked, "What dis song?" (as he always does). Heath explained to him that this song reminded him of his mom. This is how the rest of the conversation went...

Heath: Do you remember Nana, Cash?
Cash: Nana?
Heath: Nana was my mom, Cash. She's in heaven, remember?
Cash: In heaven? With Jesus?
Heath: Yes! Nana is in heaven with Jesus.
Cash: Like Kevin.
(Keep in mind that we have a good friend named Kevin, but Kevin is also the crane that works at the Steam Works on Thomas. Either one didn't quite make sense, so Heath went on trying to figure it out.)
Heath: What do you mean like Kevin?
Cash: Kevin is like heaven.

Ahhh ... they rhyme.

Me: You mean they sound alike? That means they rhyme. Very good, lil' man!
Cash: Like my ball?
Again, Heath and I were confused. Ball didn't rhyme with heaven or Kevin.
Heath: What do you mean, Cash? Which ball?

Caught in the act

Heath snapped this picture about a month ago when he was pouring concrete at the house for the back porch. His dad stopped by to see how things were going.

And he said he'd never pick up a trowel again...

Getting ready

As long as I can remember, my Granny (Nanny to the boys) has always had a garden in the summer. She would plant anything from strawberries to squash and tomatoes to butter beans. In the past five or six years (thanks to Heath) she's also added hot peppers to her garden.

When Heath and I bought our little plot of land outside of Bowling Green, I immediately began to search out the perfect spot for my very own (small) garden. I knew I would be busy this summer getting settled in, but I was hoping to find the time to share the joy of gardening with the boys. So I found a pretty good spot, and Heath asked our wonderful neighbor if he could plow up a patch for me. We have been blessed with such friendly and helpful neighbors!

There it is ... not ready yet.

A little boy's paradise

One of his favorite things to do...

Sure, lots of kids have odd, quirky things that they like to do, but this by far is the cutest quirky thing ever. B loves to sit in the refrigerator. Sometimes he sits and drinks, other times he just sits. I guess it's the perfect height, and of course, it's nice and cool. Whatever the reason, he's one super cute fridge-sitter.

If he's around and the door opens, he makes a mad dash to sit down.

It's like he has a radar, and when he hears the door open, he'll look around to see if he has time to stake his claim.

And of course, when you finally decide that the door being opened isn't helping at all with electric bills, you have to peel him from his favorite seat in the house.

It's just too much fun, right?

Borrowing some Cash

I thought I'd let you borrow some "Cash" to bring a smile to your face - he's always bringing a smile to mine...

I went the other day to get him from his nap (he still calls for me from his big boy bed). I sat on his bed and gave him a hug.
Me: Guess who's here, Cash.
Cash: What?
Me: No, guess who's here.
Cash: What?
Me: No, not what, who?
Cash: Who's who?

Big yard, little boy

In the past few weeks, he's covered every square inch of this yard multiple times. He's not scared to get out and explore... I'm going to have my hands full when we get to our new house.
