Since the middle of April, we have been enjoying some time at the ballpark watching some games. No, Cash is not playing ball yet, but instead Heath has gotten out his cleats and dusted off his glove. He's back to playing softball with our church. After taking two years off (2010 was busy with Baylen in the spring, and 2011 was all about building the house), we were all happy for him to be playing again. I really enjoy being out there cheering on the team and visiting with our church family, and Heath loves playing ball.
This year it's a bit different though. The last time I was out at the fields watching Heath play, I had an 18 month old that sat in his stroller and made faces at the other spectators. Now I have two little guys who love time at the ball fields. They don't so much watch the game, but they do love everything else that a game night includes.
Here they are trying to sneak rocks from the other side of the fence. Notice they are in their old sneakers and play clothes. No dressing up or cleaning up to go see Daddy play!
Silly boy! They will hang around the bleachers for a bit, but most of the time we're going from place to place. Sometimes we hang out at the playground (they have two nice swingsets), sometimes we are in the grassy area playing some ball of our own, but most of the time the boys take their machines and play in the dirt with friends.
On this particular night, one of the other Rich Pond spectators was playing ball with them!
Baylen was trying to field the balls that Cash was hitting.
See Heath out in right center? He usually plays left or left center, but this year with the new team, he's over a spot. He's had a great season!
Poor picture, but great hit! Here he is after he grounded one in a hole towards left field. He rounded first and made it to second on this one.
Here's the boys doing what they do best -- getting dirty!
Sometimes there's productive play, but a lot of times it's just fun to get filthy! It's (most) always bath night when we get home!
Note: The Rich Pond Men's team were runners-up in the tournament this year! Looking forward to hopefully playing in another tournament later this summer.
