Creation Collage

Since we learned all about the letter I last week, our Bible verse also started with the letter I. Which better verse than the very first one in the Bible?!

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1

To go along with this Bible verse, the Bible story we learned about was the story of creation. We practiced holding up our six fingers, and throughout the week we learned how God made the earth and everything in it. Day by day we added some things to our creation collage as we learned all about the creation story.

The boys had fun with it, I think. They were squirmy while I read through the verses in Genesis, but were excited about getting to "glue something on." Take a look...

I didn't take a picture for day one, but we learned that God said, "Let there be light." We covered our eyes to show how dark it was then when we said "light!" we uncovered them. Very simple, but B was doing it all day long. We started with an empty box of Cheerios cut open. On the solid side we glued on some black construction paper for the dark, and then we glued on some great yellow glittery paper to be the light. On the second day, we glued on some white foam clouds and some blue foam for the waters.

As you can tell, we also painted the entire paper blue, showing the sky. And yes, we did the project mainly with the boys sitting on the island in the kitchen. :)

For day three, we had a blast gluing on brown sand for the dry land and green sand for the grass. We also made some trees out of tongue depressors and fake leaves. The fuzzy balls are supposed to be the fruit-bearing plants...

On day four, we added a sun, the moon and LOTS of stars.

Sweet boys - I love teaching them! It's such a blessing to be able to stay at home!

On day five, God created the fish in the sea ...

and the birds in the sky.

And on the last day, day six, God created the animals and man. Of course, Cash wanted to know why Adam and Even didn't have on clothes. What a fun question! :)

While I don't expect Cash to remember what God created on each day and in the correct order, I do think that he picked up on the overall idea that God made everything. From the light to the seas, to the sky and the animals, our Wonderful Savior created it all!

**This idea did not come from me, but rather from a wonderful resource - www.littleblots.com
