Pelly's Garden Patch

Every year, we visit the county's favorite pumpkin patch. We pick out our pumpkins, enjoy the slides, animals, and devour apple pies and apple cider. This year, since I had been there with the boys two or three times, I decided that it might be nice to try a new pumpkin patch for a change. I had heard some good things about Pelly's and seen some fun pictures on FB where other friends had visited, so last weekend after some family pictures to help adoption, we all went to Pelly's in Smiths Grove to enjoy the day and get our pumpkins.

They had one of Heath's favorites there. They had some feed in a bucket, too, that you could feed to him. B and Heath loved this, but of course, cautious Cash didn't join in.

He was, however, very interested in the free-range chickens that were everywhere! I gave him a don't-make-them-mad warning and let him loose on them.

Which of course made B very interested in the chickens, too.

There was a kids' maze there made of hay rolls. It was very short, but the boys enjoyed walking through it.

Dead end, B. :)

Heath and Cash took off through the corn maze. B decided to walk slowly and soak it all in. I can imagine how huge it must seem to a guy so little.

After awhile, he decided to hitch a ride on Grandad's shoulders. Smart kid.

Here's Cash trying to find the perfect pumpkin. He said he wanted a "big one," but he had to be able to "use his strong muscles to pick it up."

This is the one!

Yes, B was still a bit puny with a runny nose, and Cash had a bit of a cough. We didn't stay too long, either, because it was getting chilly.

But before we left, we found the pool and trough of corn. Grandad helped Kennick fill up his watering can while Cash and B used the bulldozer and loader to move the corn around.

Derek misunderstood and thought there would be enough corn to play in (as in jump, swim, etc.). He was proving that you could still have fun in the small containers of it.

O is so silly!

My boy and his machines -- whether sand, dirt, gravel, mud or corn ... he'll use his machines in it all.

All three of the boys had a great time playing in the corn. It gives us an idea for next fall...

Yes, that's B getting an adjustment from Grandad. O had his portable table in the back of their car, so dad gave my puny little guys some adjustments before we headed home.

Cousins ... I love these guys!

Pelly's was a fun place, and their pumpkins were much less expensive than at the other Orchard. They also had more variety of pumpkins, but no apple pies or apple cider...  All in all, it was a great trip!
