I wrote this post last year about my favorite time of the day. Even though almost a whole year has passed since we planted our little family out here on Moats Lane, I still believe that going to check on the garden with my boys is still my favorite thing to do in the evening.

Gone fishin'
After supper, we loaded up and drove down the road just a bit to aunt Kathy's farm to do some fishing and play in the creek. The boys love this place, and I do, too. What a wonderful place to make memories!
B was excited about some fishing, but his attention span didn't last too long. He ended up playing in the grass next to Heath while he did most of the fishing.
Cahs was all ready to go. He had been wanting to go fishing for weeks. He was determined to do it all by himself though.
Finally, he gave in and let Bubba help. (It was safer this way.)
Grammy and Grandad sat on the tailgate watching the action and enjoying the evening.
Like father like son
Ditto
The only catch of the night was "Baylen's first fish." He was very proud of it, and we'll let him call this his first fish, but I'm not sure he had much to do with the process. *wink wink*
Aunt Kathy even tried to help Cash catch a fish, but with no luck. He did end up covered in the blue dye that's in the water. :)
And later Kennick wanted to go for a ride on the mule. Grandad and O took him for a spin around the fields. Happy Memorial Day to all!
Slip sliding away!
On Memorial Day, we headed to Glasgow to spend some time with more family. We started out at my Granny's (Gran-Granny) house. We played a bit in the sprinkler and tried out the slip-n-slide, and then we grilled out some supper.
This was Kennick's new sprinkler that he brought to share. The boys loved playing with the noodles that sprayed the water.
Heath showed the boys how to use the slip-n-slide. He first went down on his chest and belly, but later decided it was more fun to "surf" and slide.
Kennick got the hang of it real quick and slid down time after time.
My boys loved the noodles on the sprinkler and used them to water fight.
Kennick was content on slipping and sliding down the hill!
Cash was being the typical big brother here, spraying little brother with water. I think B had had enough.
Finally, he got it to himself and loved every second of squirting the sliders as they slipped down the hill.
Whoa! Cash's feet flew out from under him here. He was fine, of course.
Later Cash snuggled up with O to dry off and keep warm ...
while B sat with Grammy under the shade tree. What a fun way to start our Memorial Day afternoon!

The harvest
Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
- Matthew 9:38
In the same way that we harvest a pepper that we didn't cause to grow, we can harvest souls that the Lord cultivates. Share the Gospel.
(Cash is holding our first harvest of the season, a cowhorn pepper, picked May 27th.)
Old Hickory
Just when we thought we were home, we turn around and go again!
We got home around 11pm Friday night, and after a big breakfast, checking on the neighbor's house, watering the garden, and some shopping at the Farmer's Market, we headed south again to Old Hickory Lake near Mt. Juliet, TN to hang out with Heath's family for Memorial Day weekend!
Nick was already at the pool when we arrived. He was ready for some warm weather fun!
B knew exactly what to do! He'd been in water all week. They had probably 50 red, white and blue beach balls in the pool for kids to play with.
Ali and Chris were already in the pool, too! It wasn't an extremely hot day, but the water felt good!
Silly boy with his hat
They also had inflatables for the kids, and for some reason, the three boys were the only ones on them!
This guy loved the little bounce house. It was just the perfect size for him!
Whoa! Nick and Cash LOVED the Lightning McQueen and Mater slide, of course!
Nick - the dare devil
Cash would stand at the top and jump down landing half-way to the end of the slide. Yikes!
B went down with Heath a few times. That was fine with him. Later he went down by himself and got his leg going sideways and ended up backwards and tumbled head over heels. He was done after that.
Life vest on, ready for a ride on the lake!
Fun bunch!
Yes, I am the only one looking in this picture.
Sisters -- Ali and Stacy sat on the front of the boat enjoying the cruise around Old Hickory.
Nothing but smiles loving Aunt Stacy and Nathan's boat!
Cousins -- T-R-O-U-B-L-E :)
Of course, PawPaw was there, too, enjoying the ride. He had actually driven his Harley down earlier than morning and was spending the weekend with Stacy and Nathan. Perfect weekend for a bike ride!
You guessed it! He was a very tired little guy.
While Cash was a very hungry little guy. He and Chris snacked on chips during the cruise around the water. He liked sitting next to Nathan and the steering wheel. He had lots of questions about the anchor. (He loves anchors right now.)
Here he is fascinated by the engines and power of the boat. Heath and Chris were explaining it all to him. Such a manly boy!
We even got to see a tugboat (?) pushing a barge full of coal (?) while we were out. Nathan also pointed out Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's house while we were out on the boat. Exciting things!
We ended the evening with a big bar-b-que supper, some dancing while the band played, and then we got back in the pool for some evening water fun. It was such a fun time, and we loved the extra time with Heath's family! What a great way to start the Memorial Day weekend!

One last splash
On Friday morning before we left, we ate a quick breakfast and then headed to the pool for one last dip.
We were the only ones there since it was early, so we decided the water squirters were a great idea.
Love these two! Don't they look relaxed after a nice vacation?
Who is winning here?
Such a big boy!
Is this just the second or third picture of me from the millions taken on vacation? Yay! Loving some pool time with my little guys before heading north.
Cash got really used to his floaty ring and could peruse the pool with no problem. We were always close by of course, but it made it so fun for him to be able to get around and jump in by himself.
Mommy relaxed and enjoyed the vacation, too!
We're packed and headed to the car - next stop, HOME!
Just kidding - we had to eat at Lambert's first!
Yes, this is the home of the "throwed rolls." They actually throw your rolls at you from across the restaurant. The boys loved it! They loved the apple butter, too.
Heath and I loved the way they came around handing out spoonfuls of fried okra, potatoes and onions, cabbage .... you name it! It was a great ending to our wonderful trip!
