Oh, my. If you can remember back to last May, a storm came through the area, and while we were living with my parents in Glasgow, their weeping cherry tree fell over. I wrote about it here. Ever since my dad pulled the tree back up straight and tied it off with a rope, it's stayed that way. Surprisingly, it bloomed this past spring and was covered in leaves. It seemed that it's roots just weren't anchored deep enough. So for Mother's Day, Karalee and I planned a supper at mom's house while the boys cut down the old tree and planted a new one. The little boys were just running around enjoying each other and watching it all happen.
Heath was more than happy to cut down the tree. He loves any reason to use his chainsaw. :)
It was raining lightly. These two didn't care.
Grammy and B watched it all take place from her bedroom window. Notice B has an oven mitt on. :)
O was there, too, of course, helping to pile it up on the back of his truck. I think he was unsure of how his truck got picked for this job. He, he.
When the rain got a bit harder, Cash and Kennick joined B and Grammy at the window to watch.
A few tugs from O's truck and down the tree came!
Heath finished cutting the rest of it up,
and then they dug the new hole. Karalee and I joked that this was our Mother's Day present, but they were doing all the hard work. :) We were busy cooking inside, though, right?
Here's the new tree. The previous tree had been there for 25 years, so I'm sure it will take this one awhile to take up that big space.
Happy Mother's Day, Grammy!
