Playroom makeover

When we moved in last June (yes, it's almost been a year!), we knew that there were a couple of things that weren't quite "finished." For example, there was a concrete pad to be poured (finished now), an empty room we called an office that had nothing in it (has a desk and some shelves now, but not finished) and we had a room upstairs called the playroom that was filled with toys but nothing to organize the toys with. I had a vision for the room, and with time, I hoped to get it to a place where the boys could organize their things while keeping it a fun, usable playroom.

For Christmas this past year, my parents offered to buy the boys some cabinets and shelves for the playroom, and we were happy to accept the gift. After some drawing and planning, looking around and thinking, I finally got the plans to our cabinet maker and on May 3rd, they came to install them. Here's some pictures...

Here's what it looked like the morning before the cabinet guys came. On one wall is the installed TV and a few toys. We have a couch and recliner on this side as well.

On the other side is a print with scripture on the wall and lots of toys. It looks more chaotic than normal in this picture because I had moved it all to this side of the room to get it all out of the way for the new cabinets.

Wow! Here's what it looks like afterwards. Most of those toys that were on the other side of the room are now stored neatly in the cabinets, buckets and baskets. Those that are too big are neatly arranged on the other side. We have a basket for Thomas toys, one for trucks and cars, one for balls, etc. Puzzles and bigger trucks and toys are underneath, and we have plenty of shelves for books and possibly a DVD player in the future. Thanks, Grammy and Grandad!
