What do you do?

My question is simple. After eating supper and cleaning up, what does your family do in that sweet time before bed time? I call it a sweet time because, for us, it's the time where everyone is home. The boys love this time because Heath is there, and while Heath is tired from work and I'm usually drained from a day of keeping up with the housework and boys, we're all ready to have some fun as a family before it's time for pajamas, Bible time, teeth brushing and upstairs for bed.

I've been trying to find some simple things to do with the boys that will keep them active. They love building forts, playing chase, throwing socks and bouncy balls from the upstairs balcony and rough housing, but I wanted to do something different. I found an alphabet game on one of the blogs I try to keep up with and thought Cash would like it. It involved stickers, so I knew B would like it, too. But it was a bit boring, sitting down and matching letters with stickers, so Heath and I jazzed it up some and added an obstacle course. Here's how it went:

Pick a sticker from the end table. (They were all left over scrapbooking stickers that were letters.)

Here's Cash with his. After you pick a sticker, you start the obstacle course. We used couch cushions, chairs, the coffee table, you get the idea.

Over the back of the couch, jump on to the coffee table, slide down the cushions, through the tunnel (chairs) and...

when you get to the window, match the letter sticker to the same letter on the page.

And then head back! Whew! What fun ... we started with a sand timer and encouraged Cash to try to beat the timer, but it was too slow and he lost interest in it.

Of course, B wanted to try it, too. He was very close to falling over though from sleepy-ness.

He's such a wirey little guy. He did well with the obstacle course though!

Through the tunnel, and then Cash helped him match his sticker to the letters on the chart.

Of course, Daddy had to try it out, too. I did as well, but we're not going to post pictures of that. :)

After awhile, I was holding a sleepy B and Cash was still going strong. We had changed the tunnel into some hills. He loved it! Anything physical like this is Cash's "favorite."

And here's the end result: a filled chart (and also two tired little guys!)
