Our celebration of Advent is going so well! Heath and I were talking just last night about how well we think Cash is absorbing the stories and really understanding some of the details. I am so thankful that I ran across this book on the Internet. Seriously, if you haven't started an Advent celebration or study with your kiddos, it's not too late. Truth in the Tinsel is the name of the book. It's super reasonably priced at $4.99, and it's an ebook, so you download it, print it off and Wah-lah! No shipping and no waiting! I'll even give you the link to it. The author, Amanda, even has some alternate schedules in case you don't want to make every single ornament. Check it out!
So day two was broken into two different parts. The boys and I painted the crowns earlier that day so that they could dry before we finished them that night as a family. The painting was, um, fun - more on that later!
I like how this picture makes it look like it was neat and tidy. Ha!
They did a great job, and we all had fun painting the crowns. Anytime there's paint and a brush involved, the boys are elated.
That night, it was Baylen's turn to get the bag (with daddy's help). We helped him find the clue, which was a picture of a crown. We talked about crowns, who wore them, and what made those kinds of people special.
Heath read the same scripture from the night before from Isaiah. The boys and I listened for the words "prince" or "King." Jesus was to be called the Prince of Peace. We also heard the words throne and kingdom. We talked with the boys about how Jesus is the King of Kings, and wants to be King of our lives and our hearts. As we were talking, the boys glued their "gems" on their crowns.
Then Cash put his crown on his baby Jesus from his Little People Nativity set. How sweet! It was a little big, so we decided to hang it on the tree instead.
That is my prayer, that one day Cash and Baylen will pray and ask God into their hearts so that He may be King of their lives. What an awesome King that we serve, to send His own Son to live among us and to save us from our sins!
